Skin care routine
How to build the perfect skin care routine? Which is the correct order to apply the products?
Here is an easy guide step by step.
How to: step by step
1. First, if you wear make-up clear your skin and remove it with cleansing oil or micellar water.
2. Wash your face with a cleansing gel designed for your skin type. It’s really important to wash your face at least twice a day (day and night) to remove dirt and other impurities that can cause clogged pores, irritation and inflammation to your skin. If you use toner, apply right after cleansing.
3. Exfoliate. Use a chemical exfoliant or a scrub to remove the dead skin cells on the skin’s surface in the evening (2-3 times a week). A regular exfoliation will help other products to penetrate more deeply into your skin, making them more effective. If you have sensitive skin, make sure to be gentle if you use a scrub or to pay attention to the exfoliant composition to avoid skin irritation.
4. Apply serum. Serum is designed to nourish, hydrate, and protect your skin, and can give your skin numerous and different kind of benefits, depending on the ingredients and its composition. In fact, there are different types of serums, and you will want to choose the right one for you and to look for specific ingredients, depending on what you wish to achieve and your skin goals.
In general, before bed is the best time to apply a moisturizing serum (for example with hyaluronic acid) to boost collagen production and to hydrate your skin during the night, while you can opt for a serum with antioxidants (like vitamin C) in the morning to protect your skin during the day.
5. Moisturize to hydrate your skin and to lock in all the other layers of product you’ve applied before.
It's better if you use two different moisturizers for night and day, opting for a lighter daytime cream and a heavier one at night (depending on your specific skin type and needs). If you want to use a face oil, make sure to apply it after the other products.
6. Sun protection is really important to protect your skin from UV rays and prevent skin cancer and signs of aging. Use a sun screen protection before going out, during the day.
7. Add a face mask to your skin care routine to use 2-3 times a week. You can also create your own homemade masks, using natural products, like honey, avocado and yogurt. Especially if you have sensitive skin, be careful with the products you choose and make sure to use only products that won't hurt and irritate your skin.
